- It incorporates the car parks of Plaza Mekis, in the capital of Chile, and Mojano, in the Italian city of Assisi
After the expansion operations recently closed by Saba in all the countries in which it is present and which represented the incorporation of more than 14,500 parking spaces between 2017 and the beginning of 2018, Saba has successfully completed two new transactions that have meant a total investment of 20 million euros.
The President of Saba, Salvador Alemany, notes that "the company is still active and its desire to maintain growth as a priority objective is stronger than ever, while consolidating its role as a leading international operator". For his part, Saba’s Chief Executive Officer, Josep Martínez Vila, adds that, as well as growth, "we will insist on innovation, quality in customer service and promoting digital channel as key pillars to differentiate ourselves and increase our competitiveness".
In Chile, Saba has acquired the concession company of the Plaza Mekis car park in the country's capital. With 452 parking spaces, the infrastructure is located in the heart of Santiago de Chile, in a well-established setting and with numerous poles for attracting demand, including the Municipal Theatre and the National Library. Saba, which already operates 7 of the 8 underground car park concessions of Santiago Centro, will manage this new concession for a period of 28 years.
In Italy, Saba has obtained the concession until the year 2046 of the Assisi Mojano car park, with 299 parking spaces, located in the city’s historic centre. With the addition of these new premises, Saba is now an important operator in Assisi, where it already manages 6 car parks, totalling more than 1,000 parking spaces. This transaction is in addition to the recent opening of the Verona Arsenale car park, with 209 parking spaces, which Saba will manage under concession for a period of 56 years.
Saba is present in 21 cities in Italy and manages 60 car parks with a capacity of nearly 28,000 parking spaces. The company is the leading operator in the country, with a presence in the country’s main cities: Rome, Milan, Verona, Trieste, Venice-Mestre, Bologna, Genoa, Pisa, Perugia, Assis and Sassari, among others. Also in Italy, Saba has implemented the Telepass electronic access and payment system in seven of its car parks, which is similar to VIA T in Spain, after the pilot test carried out in 2017 at Brindisi airport. The percentage of use of this device for shot-stays is between 40% and 50%. The overall project includes 17 car parks in total.
